Welcome to Term 4! Your last term at primary school. This term I have set you a challenge. You must now get your words from this site. As you are inching closer to Intermediate you now need to start being more responsible, self motivated and independent. Be positive and set yourself weekly homework goals.

You still have your spelling and reading as homework. You will also have spelling tasks to complete each week. You will need a dictionary to help you.
The more you get tested at home with your spelling the easier it is. The more you read the better you get and the easier spelling becomes.
Task One: Each group has twenty words to learn. Within each group are words that are underlined. You need to find out what these words mean. Remember you might need to find the root word i.e. expensive - look up the word expense and you will find it. Don't guess what it means find its actual meaning. Set it out in your book as below.
Word - Word family - Meaning
Spell - verb - to name, write, or otherwise give the letters, in order, of (a word, syllable, etc.).
Task Two: You then need to write five sentences. Each sentence has at least one word from your list. You can use as many words as you like but you must write five sentences. Remember a sentence has a capital letter and fullstop.
Group A
alto, bacteria, cardinal, colloquial, contraction, dictator, elliptical, exploration, fungi, hydrogen, inverse, mechanics, negative, oxide, Polynesia, ratio, sediment, stratus, tradition, well-being.
Group B
amateur, Atlantic, campaign, closely, convenience, definitely, dutiful, expedition, formula, humorous, locate, mould, parallel, precious, referred, severe, squash, suitability, tickled, worthy.
Group C
ambulance, beam, chapter, crumb, distant, expensive, friendship, hell, irrigation, lizard, mistake, opera, platform, raft, satisfy, slice, strap, toothpaste, unpack, worn.
Group D
adopted, author, boom, chain, criminal, dancing, explain, future, homework, lettuce, motive, niece, nephew, pat, produce, saddle, signal, stole, thus, wake.
Those student who don't complete the homework know the drill! It's not hard!
