Literacy in Action

Joel, Calais, Dominic and Promita using the iPad as a listening post. This helps students hear those hard words, hear the story been read with fluency and give them confidence to read out loud

In Room 7 we use a variety of ways to enjoy and explore reading.

During this task students had to find key pieces of information about the text and create a summary map. We recorded this using a Swivl. This tracks students reading when they are holding the tracking device.

Mr Dufty's Weekly Reading Challenge

Every week students have set task to develop and consolidate the understanding of what is being read. We work on being able to write a Summary, Character Maps and Reading Trail.

Listening Post

Some groups will be using School Journals, Junior Journals or Ready to Read resources. They will have the opportunity to listen to there stories online at school or at home.

Reading Trails

This term the Yankees are reading novels and completing a reading trail (story timeline). This a different way of completing a novel study. They will create a themed timeline of their story with a summary for each chapter.
