Homework - Week 1 Term 4 - THE BRAIN

During Term 4 you will be completing one task each week on a part of the human anatomy and your wellbeing.

This is a chance to show your self management and independent working skills. You will receive your homework on a Tuesday and it is due the following Monday. Each week I will put your tasks on our class blog. If you want a printed or e-mailed copy just ask.

Mr Dufty's Rules for Research.
  • Don't use Google!! Use the links provided or find a book about the brain - use your brain!
  • Make your presentation fun BUT full of information!
  • Don't copy what you find - write in your own words! This is stealing!!
  • One page only - so PLAN before you put it in your book!!!!
  • Get Mum or Dad to check that you have answered all the questions. Ask them for some help as they will know lots of stuff!

The Brain

This week is your first mini project is on the BRAIN. Remember to have fun with your presentation but you must convince me that you have investigated the topic fully. You will be mark on your presentation and originality of your written work. If you quote a book or website you must acknowledge it.

1.     What is the dictionary definition meaning for the word “brain”?
2.    The brain is often referred to as the computer. What is the role of the brain and how does it work?
3.    What is the brain and the central nervous system the same thing?
4.    What is a ‘headache’ or a ‘migraine’?
5.    Why is the brain placed inside the skull? Is it attached to the skull?
6.    How does an illness like Parkinson affect the brain and someone’s life?
7.    What is concussion and what could be some long term effects of heavy or repetitive concussion?
8.    The brain is made up of different parts that control our body and development. What are the main parts of the brain called and what are their purposes?

This is a great site about the brain and other things.

Remember it is up to you how you present it but make sure you manage your time.

Your homework is due on Monday 20th October.

    1. Hi Shaquila. That sound great just remember you can present it anyway you want. It doesn't have to be in your homework book. Make sure you keep it simple and achievable.
