Homework Week 5 - Pepeha

Pepeha

Your next homework challenge is to share something about your family. You are to write and share your own pepeha or mihi. We have talked in class about how you can do this. If you have another language you use at home you can use this – just write a translation for the class. It can be written in english but remember that a pepeha tells me about who you are and your whakapapa. So find out places or landmarks of importance to your family or culture. Ask for help from people who know. If you are Maori you might already have a pepeha framework that your family uses.

Your pepeha can be written in another language.

Mr Dufty's Rules for Research.

  • Don't use Google!! Mum, Dad and your family should be the first people you speak to. Every family has someone who is a family historian!
  • Make your presentation fun BUT full of information!
  • Don't copy what you find - write in your own words! This is stealing!!
  • One page only - so PLAN before you put it in your book!!!!
  • Get Mum or Dad to check that you have answered all the questions. Ask them for some help as they will know lots of stuff!
