Homework Week 5 - Jupiter

On Tuesday we are off to Hastings Intermediate. Make sure you are in your tidiest uniform.

This week we are focusing on Jupiter. Well done those students who were very focused and determined to complete their homework to their best standard.

You have to find 10 bits of information about Jupiter. Mr Dufty has seven questions for you to find the answers to. You only have to think of three more.

  1. What gives Jupiter its amazing spots?
  2. What is the length of one year and one day on Jupiter compared to Earth?
  3. Who discovered Jupiter?
  4. Jupiter has a strong magnetic field - how much would you weigh on Jupiter?
  5. How did Jupiter get its name?
  6. Does Jupiter have any Moons?
  7. What are the four gases that make Jupiter?

These links will give you the answers.

A great search engine for your homework.

http://www.safesearchkids.com

When looking for information on each project don't type in the questions into google - you will not find what you are looking for. A search engine (Google) is design to find all the websites which have the words or words you ask it to find. If you type in the word 'Jupiter' you will get 122,000,000 possible websites! The the first website is not always the best!

Use a safe kids search and type in the word 'Jupiter'. It will find the best sites to give you information on the planet Mars for students.

Mr Dufty's Rules for a Mini-Project.

• Plan it first!!! Your homework book is for your best publishing.
• Make your presentation fun BUT full of information! Show pride and complete your project with your best presentation. Mr Dufty can tell when you have rushed or haven't finished!! A great piece of presentation has information and pictures.
• Don't copy what you find - write in your own words! This is stealing!!
• Use all the space you have so make it fun and interesting.

Get Mum or Dad to check that you have answered all the questions. Ask them for some help, as they will know lots of stuff!

Remember to have fun with your presentation but you must convince me that you have investigated your topic fully. You will be marked on your presentation and originality of your written work. If you quote a book or website you must acknowledge it.

Homework is due on Friday.

Week 3. Earth

For our second homework challenge this term we will be focusing on Earth

I was really impressed with a group of students who have jumped straight into their homework projects with excellence and pride. They remembered that their project was just one part of their weekly homework task. Don't forget to complete your spelling, reading log and basic facts. The things you read for your projects should be added to your reading log.

You will only get better with your reading, spelling and maths if you try. Remember failure is always an option but laziness is not!

Isabella's homework showed real pride and excellence. Her commitment to improving her knowledge and standard of presentation shows real determination.
